Indian People's Action builds the voice of urban indians while working for systemic change to alter the balance of power.

Indian People's Action (IPA) is a 10-year old, statewide citizen action organization with a membership of over 600 low- and moderate-income urban Indian families. IPA has successfully organized urban Indians in three of five of Montana's largest cities: Billings, Butte, and Missoula. Indian People Action or IPA is an organized Chapter of Montana Peoples Action.

IPA families are urban Indian families organized to impact social, economic, and racial justice issues at the neighborhood, citywide, and statewide levels. IPA has demonstrated a consistent ability to impact the decisions and policies of powerful statewide public and private institutions while simultaneously building strong local organizations and developing talented, committed grassroots leadership.

IPA organizes and confronts institutional racism entrenched in such areas as, law enforcement, education, employment, and housing. Following the direct action model of MPA, IPA builds strength in numbers through direct action strategies to impact policies in local and state government, the public school system, law enforcement, and various state and local agencies.
